Niles, Barton & Wilmer, LLP Welcomes our 2024 Summer Associates

Niles, Barton & Wilmer, LLP is delighted to welcome our 2024 Summer Associates. This year, we will have six Summer Associates who will be an integral part of our team. They will receive hands on legal experience while gaining practical experience in our firm. We are grateful to have such an esteemed group of students join us this summer.  

Elliott Gardner, JD Candidate at The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law
Elliott is also the Director of Operations and Founding Member of a not-for-profit organization focused on supporting those in need throughout the Roanoke Valley. He has also spent years volunteering his time in service of others and was the Vice President of his alma mater’s golf club.

Robert Handler, JD Candidate at The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law
Robert was previously an Intern for the honorable James X. Sattely J.S.C. in the New Jersey Court system and a Legislative Aide Intern in the 38th Legislative District of New Jersey.

Ellen Joseph, JD Candidate at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law
Ellen is also a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, served as Miss World America Pennsylvania 2023, and a previous Judicial Intern to the Honorable Daniel A. Friedman and the Honorable Chief Judge Wells of the Appellate Court of Maryland.

Ripple Sato, JD Candidate at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law
Ripple was a Judicial Assistant and Case Manager with the Alaska Court System.

Josie Shaffer, JD Candidate at the University of Baltimore School of Law
Josie's previous experience includes the Organized Crime Unit of the Office of the Maryland Attorney General, Baltimore City Department of Law, Law Clerk, and Executive Editor for Volume 54 of the University of Baltimore Law Review.

Nial Vender, JD Candidate at the University of Baltimore School of Law
Previously Nial was Judicial Intern and Courtroom Assistant for the Honorable Richard M. Hughes,III in Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
